When Russel Norman came to Southland to find out about the state of the Waituna lagoon, Eric Roy dismissed the Green leader's effort by saying it nothing more than a photo opportunity.
Over the past two days we've seen Eric's well-worn face in two of our local newspapers; the Southland Express, where he was pictured in front of a new window display of one of the city's shops, and in the Southland Times, meeting with another aging Nat MP. Neither of the photos had a story of any substance to go with them. Pure photo opportunism, with a sprinkle of hypocrisy.
Still, it's election year. No-one expects politicians to tell the truth while hunting votes, do they?
