Hone gives himself the bash

That's a dumb thing to say Hone.
*Thinks thought, engages critical faculty, then opens mouth.
It's admirable to be forthright and open with your views but really  e hoa, what did you stand to gain from making a public pronouncement on Osama bin Laden?
You've apologized for your ill-considered comment, but you've self-harmed at a time you will suffer most from doing so.
Still, those who got light-headed at the thought that the popularity of the Mana Party would damage the Green vote will be unsure now of what to say (eh Inv2 :-)

I imagine very few people who comment on this will have watched the Te Karere clip.
Lets keep an eye out for anyone who doesn't repeat American mantras on this thread and troll them. Hard.

Maui Street blogger says Hone's comments are the tradition approach to addressing the dead - describe their best aspect rather than destroy their mana while they are not there to defend themselves. I can accept that but at the same time recognise that it will be misconstrued by people who aren't party to that knowledge and can cause unnecessary harm. Eh.

Why comment on Osama at all then?

Are we really toying with the idea that 'wisdom' is not a Maori trait?

Why comment?
Someone probably asked him. As the leader of a new party, he's bound to be petitioned on all sorts of issues - pause, reflect, answer.
Easy to advise from the comfort of my own home. Probably harder in front of a camera and a probing investigative journalist.
