This kind of news compels the need for a bouncy dance on the spot. Grey Wolf may have mucked it up, but there will be others. This country needs to decide on ending coal mining. Exporting our CO2 debt to China, as does Australia and others is a cheat.
You are quite correct Jonesy, both about there being plenty of'wolves' clamouring to take the place of the disposed 'grey' and about the country needing to decide to stop mining coal, or at least opening any new mines. Best rationale? There are clearly serious issues around taking coal from the ground. Let's stop now, explore and encourage alternatives and review the situation in a decade's time. Someone has to do it. It should be New Zealand.
