Armed with my camera...
When I'm out and about with my camera, I feel like a butterfly collector with net in hand, though I can't claim to catch jewelled treasures the way a lepidopterist might.
Here's today's eclectic collection.
This chunk of glass lay on the exposed bed of the estuary nearby to the dolphin, shown in the next shot.
The dolphin looked particularly exposed this morning, with the extra-low tide.
I wonder what happened here in the cycle lane in Yarrow Street - was it indecision or artistry?
And finally, a plastic fly-screen (because it was there.)

What sort of camera are you using Robert? I think I asked you once before but can't remember whether you told me or not.

I've just returned from a photo safari through the town and out onto the estuary bed. I'll post some of those shortly. For the moment, I'm rapt to have Mrs G back :-)

I had a look at the specs of your camera (yes, I am a camera tech geek) and it is actually pretty good for an older model.
I would love to see what you could do with a camera with a wider lens Robert.
Do you go out specifically to take photo's or just grab em when you can?
Do you use a tripod for the closeup mystery photos?
Shunda - I don't know any techy stuff at all about photography but I've got a beady eye. I could do with some instruction, though I was given a lovely little instruction book by Brian of Tapui Books but I've failed to take the time to read it! Must try harder!
Wildcrafty, I don't use a tripod - steady-hand-Luke me! Must post another mystery photo, now that you mention it...
If it is a little yellow book written by a NZer it is an excellent book, not full of 'fluff' like some.
You really do have a good eye Robert, I think you are a lot better at photography than you may realise.
Do you play around with settings much or do you use pre-set scene modes or auto?

Every day, rain or shine, he walks down to this spot with his dog and we often bump into each other.
He is a German immigrant (I think) and he has a very good attitude to the environment and life in general.
The picture says a lot about him even though you can't see his face.

Yep, it's the yellow book Shunda - I'll dig it out tomorrow. I don't fiddle with settings - don't know what they are for. I usually shoot on auto. Sometimes I find I've bumped it to something else accidentally. That's not often a good thing. I miss some of the potentially best shots, by being unprepared. Today Bill English drove past (true) while I was standing in Riverton's main street. He craned his neck in a funny way to look at something, and I wasn't ready - had the camera turned off - dang! Would have been a scoop!
That's a great photo Shunda. I like that you can't tell which way the man is facing. And the almost invisible dog!
I was going to do a mystery photo Robert but couldn't get the camera still enough :-(
