The hearts and votes of his growing band of supporters that is.
Peters is showing that he can frame an argument beautifully and deliver it with pizzaz. His new-found zing is ringing true for increasing numbers of older voters and he's on a roll. When he says things like this:
"The Government is pouring billions of dollars of good money – taxpayers' money – into failing businesses like South Canterbury Finance and AMI Insurance. It should nationalise AMI and send the people who supposedly ran the company to a tent camp in a Canterbury pine plantation for the winter." he scores a direct hit, not only with his faithful but with everyone who feels that the National Government is pandering to the rich and well-to-do.
National, it's spinners and apologists will be sh*tting themselves at the rise and rise of Winston Peters.
"The only people this Government looks after are those on the top of the pile – they are creaming it ... [while] taxpayer dollars get siphoned off in billions to save failing businesses.
"This Government gives huge tax cuts to the rich and increases taxes on food and the necessaries of life for families. The days of pensioners eating pet food will be over the day we walk back through the doors of Parliament."
That's the way you do it!
I'd never vote for the bloke, but that's the way you do it!

The Greens should be worried too. If Peters gets enough votes/power again then Labour will sideline the Greens, again, should it get the chance to form a govt.
If this is the way to do it (and it might well be), where are the Greens doing this?
That's right wildcrafty. Peters has attacked and nobbled the Greens many times in the past. This 'development' is pleasing only in that it endangers National's chances. Beyond that, there's not much joy.
Best case scenario - the Greens do so well at the ballot-box that the number of Green MPs is so great that Peters has to go cap in hand to negotiate with Russel and Metiria. Winston can line up behind Goff at the Green door.
I think Labour, the greens, Winston and Hone all have one thing in common: anti privatisation.
Winston may be good at speeches, but does he have policy or a plan? Labour without the greens could not build a coherent plant to reduce emissions and unemployment.
Rumour is National is dropping Act, as Rodney is political toxic. So this year may be one of change. I wonder if Winston has been digging the dirt on National and privatisation...
That's interesting Anonymous. I suspect Winston is well armed to attack
Key and doesn't lack for motivation. He was monstered by the Nat political machine last time and doesn't take that kind of treatment lying down.
Go Winston (you awful man).
