Timaru and surrounds

Timaru today was balmy with a light breeze. I took a photo of yachts out in Caroline bay, getting tossed about by conditions. I'll post when I get back. Spent the day with all sorts of interesting people, discussing democracy and other such weekendish kind of topics at the Transition Towns hui. Tomorrow, it's breakfast at the Timaru farmers' market, then back down the island, visiting orchards, gardens and people we want to talk with between here and Riverton.

I'll look forward to hearing about the weekend, Robert. I think TT will be a useful resource in many places now. I am keen to have an audit of where we are in Invercargill regarding our current resilience so that we can focus our energies more usefully. At our last meeting we discovered that we didn't really need another community garden so what should we really be supporting in this area?

Thanks Southernrata - we're nearly there, but late, as you can see. The Timaru farmers' market was a mega-talk-fest!
We'll be calling in to see Dugald's lawn in any case.

Hey bsprout - good thinking and the audit will be the most valuable thing to do. I'll post on my weekend when I get back home. I learned a lot of things - the quake stories are really relevant to the movement.

You had a much more important task escorting Jinty home. It was a good meeting though, if not what everyone expected.

Ah Southernrata! I'd love to hear more but I guess this isn't the format for that, unless you write very cleverly and I read between the lines. Jinty sang like a bird :-)
I'll watch the ODT site for things bobbling to the surface.
