Leavin' town

Tomorrow, I'm heading north. My son and I are going alllllllll the way up to Motueka for several reasons, the primary being to see my dear sweet sister Claire who is unwell. As well, we are going to the permaculture hui at Riverside.
Here's the permaculture logo.
Adam will be wearing a t-shirt that has this hand-painted on by his brother. I'll be wearing a 'real men' t-shirt, presently being printed by friends across the road.

If you're at the hui, you'll know us! We are presenting on our Riverton perma-bubble. Don't suppose I'll be blogging but the low number of comments I'm getting lately tells me that my sparkler might be just about fizzed out :-)

Hey wildcrafty - I'll write some reports on the hui, if I can get to a laptop. I think they made a big effort to hold it in the south (south?) just so's we deep southers could get there. It's still a long drive but I've got me boy to talk to and we've got lots to talk about..

Shunda! How are you?
I'll be in Riwaka for the first 5 days then Nelson for a few more - you going to be up there too?
I should email you the blog address where I took a terrible whipping from some no-nonsense feminists - it's ugly but you'd get a laugh from my pain :-

Back on topic...just had a look at the permaculture NZ website, interesting stuff and likely a wee bit of reading over the Easter holidays

Kia ora Robert, as Dutchie down south said, even if we don't always comment we're reading you. Your blog has provided some really useful info for me, sent me off to check out issues, links to other sites etc. I enjoy your deep south column in NZ gardener too (we have 10 Ha near Karitane).Life is very busy, there is so much to do to try & stop the greedy ones from stuffing up te whenua, nga awa me te moana, I'd understand if you didn't have much time to write but I'd miss your blog.

Hiya Dutchie and thanks for that - I'll take it as encouragement!
Permaculture is a very interesting proposal/solution to a lot of land use/social ills and I'd be very interested to hear your opinion, should you get a chance to read up.

Hey Nick - I hear there's been something of an earthquake up Wairoa way and likely to be several aftershock in the Motueka Valley over the next few days!
Quakin!

Hi Viv!
I was delighted to get (and read) your comment and got some of my sparkle back immediately!
There seem to be a lot of very interesting people living along your coast and up and down the line from Dunedin to Oamaru, in gardens, estuaries and all over te whenua ki Murihiku. Kia ora mo tena!
One day soon a contingent of Rivertonians will do a tour of your area and maybe you'd like to show us what's going on there :-)
