Here's the cider press that will squeeze the living juices out of this season's bumper apple crop. The press has been loaned to us by the Bluecliffs' beekeepers and I gave the iron-work a sand-down and a coat of black paint yesterday and will oil the wood (I think it's cedar) today.
It will be a centre-piece for the Harvest Festival (26th/27th March) and I'm on the lookout for a burly-armed bloke or bloke-ess to turn the screws on it over the two days.

Very cool. Is it old? How old?
I'm not sure wildcrafty - it's German and some of their technologies have remained constant through the eons :-)
I can't wait to try it out on our windfalls.
In the meantime, it's going to sit in the window of the Environment Centre, advertising the harvest festival.
