Handsome couple
Well, the one in the hat anyway.
We're posing for a promo article in a rural newspaper, advertising the up-coming Harvest Festival, at which the cider press will give visitors the chance to try their hand at the ancient art of pressing juice from apples.

A damned fine, hale and hearty looking couple you are too, but Robyn wins aesthetically, hands down! ;)
You'll be pleased to know that Terry has produced a quern stone and a handstone (all new words to moi) to the people he befriended at the Jousting Tournament...they are rapt beyond belief..amazing how the right tools can help.
And also as a wee show-off, and that you don't hate all right-wingers, he also this week, provided concrete-cutting services pro-bono for a Victoria University project for a green sustainable house, which they are entering into an international contest. Go Wellington!
Excellent Suz and Terry! That's great to hear. I'm wondering how he went about it? I'd love to post on the process and maybe show an image.
You're right to award the 'looker' award to Robyn, that's for sure!
Good face for radio, me.
What the?
Is Suz..........?
There are two Terrys (at least).
Great piccie Rob (and Robyn). Those are some mighty fine fruits you are growing down there. I must get down one day and taste for myself ...
I'll put something special aside for you Inv2.
Those apples btw, are only 3/4 full-sized.
A very fine couple (and a very verdant back yard!)
Are you going to make yourself some cider from the juice? I can probably sort you out with some yeast that'll make a good job of it you want.
A suitable yeast for cider making is exactly what I'm looking for David!
To date we've been using the natural yeasts that cling to the wrinkled skins of sultanas that we drop into the apple juice, to limited success.
Do you brew?
We are looking at making a new grape press for this seasons crop.
Would this one work for grapes?
Someone suggested a stainless steel washing machine drum!
Yeah,
I'm brewing english bitters next month, and will order some s04 yeast which people have used to good effect in ciders. Very happy to order a little extra and send it on.
You probably have a few things to think about with which yeast to use for different results. Email me (my.name@gmail.com) if you want to discuss it
Thanks David - I will. We have planted Tom Putt, Slack M'Girdle, Brown Snout, Kingston Black etc. cider apples especially for the purpose and have 90 'ordinary' heritage varieties, plus crabs, here at home to chose from.
Cna't go wrong :-)
