Green blogger in Tory territory
Dave Kennedy's blogging for good in the south. His blog Local Bodies was begun a while ago in response to local body issues but has expanded in its scope with Dave adopting the mantle of Green Party candidate for Invercargill, charged with removing Eric Roy from his plum position as National Party trougher in the south.
Dave has every chance of doing it too. He's bright and alert - typical Greenie I suppose, and has wide support across agencies, especially Education, where he would slay Anne Tolley in any discussion (mind you, who couldn't?).
Dave posted on an issue close to my own heart recently, titling it 'Real Men Have Big Gardens' How right he is! Those of you with tiny plots or none at all would be well advised not to visit Local Bodies, for fear of feeling inadequate!

Interesting, and of course Invercargill doesn't always vote Tory. What's Labour up to down there?
With regards to gardens, being a permie I'd have to say it's not the size that counts but what you do with it ;-P

Labour languishes in Invers because Leslie Soper has been unable to inspire the voters. Dave, if he plays his cards right (and he has an excellent coach) could cause an upset, ousting Roy and pipping Soper at the post.

Permie gardens can be small but mine aint! Right now it's being hammered by the weather and it just doesn't care, in fact it laughs in the face of grot weather.
Off to Timaru this weekend for the Transition Town hui.
I should look up the Ingill voter figures.

Keep an eye on Dave's blog as the election nears wildcrafty - he's pretty sharp and researches very well. He'll have the figures.
There will be TT posting and pics, plus some from the trip. We are making lots of stops to visit people and interesting sites/orchards/gardens.
