Gerry's name is mud in some parts of Christchurch. Despite his and John Key's show-pony cameos at the time of the big quake, there is widespread discontent now over fixing the problems caused by the shake.
The people of Seabreeze Close are more than restless, they're rope-able!
From the SST:
Five months after the Canterbury earthquake liquefied their street, residents of Seabreeze Close in Christchurch are living like refugees in ruined homes. Tony Wall found growing anger at the lack of action over their plight.
Seems all is very much not well in the agitated suburbs and promises by the National Government, through Key and Brownlee, were hollow.
"I'm just kind of stuck in limbo really," says Laura McConchie, whose house sale fell through when the quake hit. "They've just forgotten about us."

Yeah, they would have been better off if they had of been killed!!
Either that or they could thank their lucky stars that there were no fatalities in such a massive geological event.
Let us burn down the institute of geological and nuclear sciences so this never happens again!!!!
Blardee geologists!!!
I think they thanked their lucky stars around the time of the quake Shunda, but can't maintain that thankfullness when it comes to the mundane things that their elected members are supposed to deal with.
Blardee Brownlee!
You know I have no love for Brownlee.
I also have little tolerance for people implying they have the right to live on this planet in their cushy subdivision without being inconvenienced by the environment they are living so out of sync with!
It was a significant event, and their are only so many builders available to fix things.
Dodging a bullet is cause for celebration.
Can't believe I boxed myself into the corner of defending the residents of a well-to-do suburb of the Garden City (why do they call it the City of the Damned??)
Do they?
Or are you talking in code again.
They call it the garden city because it harbours 'garden variety' racists, red necks, and other not so nice-ins.
Brownlee is from there too.
The do.
I read it often.
Never seen an explanation so I guess you have to be from there.
I like trees.
I'm not from anywhere.
Wrd verinmification:
'pladbums'
Sounds like yer average Scotsman in days of yore.
