"I'm detecting a certain tendency on the part of the Right Blogs to either focus on the trivial and the diversionary, or on the occasional gratuitous case of wrongdoing that allows a point to be made."
Funny, I've noticed the same thing!

The same but reverse (does that make sense?) could be said of left leaning blog sites.
Not a mention of annoyance that a fraudster can take food from the table of truelly needy benificiaries.
But if he happened to be a rich tax dodger they would be over the issue (quite rightly) like a flash.
I would have thought relevant government department, who continued to pay the dole to an overseas New Zealander, should be thoroughly investigated by the Auditor General.
That this type of benefit fraud occurs on both the red AND the blue watches of the government shows how little our ministers are in touch with their ministries.
Wonder if a green government would have been more in touch with their ministries and put a stop to benefit fraud?
At least right wing blogs have pulled up the current blue government to taks on the fraud.
Would the red and green blog sites authors do the same with respective red and green governments?
I agree Gerrit, that fraudsters everywhere should be made to account for their actions.
My comment refer more to the gratuitous instances of crime of all stripes that gets regularly front-paged by right-wing bloggers who have adopted a more tabloid style and make great noises about cases of violent crime in particular. The 'Michael Laws' approach to social commentary.
As to the Greens being alert to benefit fraud - I would certainly hope they would and can't imagine why they wouldn't.
