Abuction fears disrupt Nat Christmas function

Bill English is no Santa Claus and his electorate it seems, is a hot-bed of paranoia around Christmas time. Reports from this year's National Party Christmas party for devotees from the Clutha/Southland electorate reveal that there was fear that the festivities there might be interrupted by visitors from outer space! Neil  Henderson's comment on Homepaddock reveals the level of  anxiety felt by the National Party faithful attending the Christmas shindig,

"Many people are frightened that “aliens from outer space” might disrupt these pleasant gatherings."

While the true-blue believers of Clutha/Southland are clearly worried about 'little green men', I'm more than a little worried about them!

Maybe the National Party voters are really worried about the 'intelligence' of the little 'green' men - which seems a bit 'vacant' at the moment. We're certainly very naive to think that we're here alone - I'm sure the aliens won't annoy us though because I feel we would 'shoot first and ask questions later' - not a very friendly greeting from us earthlings!

The aliens have authorised me to say "Curses! We would have got away with it if not for you meddling bloggers!"

I've been told that, for their next trick, the aliens are going to abduct all Southland's lignite for use on their home planet, which doesn't have enough of a greenhouse effect for the aliens' liking.

And the third thing the aliens told me was to wish everyone in the South a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year in advance of the interesting times expected in 2011!
