"What he’d found out, lying there in the dirt while those fists and feet rained down on him, was that if you bucked certain things – the mean things – they didn’t just buck back. No, no, that wasn’t enough. They crushed you and kept crushing and the only way you escaped alive was through pure luck, nothing else. The mean things of this world had only one lesson – we are meaner than you’d ever imagine."
Chris Trotter sums up nicely, the recent gleeful atacks on the unions and their spokespeople as a result of the Warner/Hobbit,/Jackson/Key thumping of our dear wee nation.
Mean Things.

I love all the protestors who came out to protest against the outcome of losing the hobbit -what muppets.
I think they were representing the Talk-back New Zealand Union.
Ok so Chris Trotter says we collectively "don't get it" to which I reply "because you didn't give it"
I am surprised that you would support the wholesale dismissal of an entire generation Robert.
An entire generation was dismissed?
I missed that.
Kia ora Robert,
The actions of Warner Brothers and PJ were simply based on the dollar rising from 56 to 76 plus cents, meaning their projections and budgets were blown already. The union was simply used an excuse to leverage their position, and allow John Key to ride in on his white horse to save the day, and give the unions a good kick up the ass while he was on the job. We got done like a dog's dinner. Key is smiling, and those Warners execs no doubt flew back to LA smoking big cigars and drinking champagne in first class - courtesy of the New Zealand taxpayer.

Well this all sounds so sinister!
It makes me wonder exactly what it would take for the likes of Trotter to ever criticise union leadership.
'Barrdee generation X's and Y's!! and their lack of blarrdee values!'
Yoof today, I dunno!!
Ha ha!
