They come and they go.
I've just waved goodbye (think Granny at the end of each Beverly Hillbillies show) to a group of very keen organic growers and their tutor, following their visit to our orchard and garden (same thing really, blended and indistinguishable). They travelled out to our fair village for a day of learnin' and pitchin' in and it all went very well. Once they'd recovered from their initial shock, (our 'garden' is a mind-bender for anyone who likes to maintain order and straight edges) they 'enthusiastically embraced' the permaculture way, and took up fork and spade and made their contribution to our garden, planting cardoons willy-nilly amongst the herbal understorey and toetoe systematically, along the street frontage. Not a few of the team hailed from the East Coast (Southland/Otago) and that's an area that's looking very dynamic and progressive from a 're-localisation' pov.
Good fun and gorgeous weather: sunny and still and the bees!
Buzzin'!
