Monkey on Pike
Rudyand Kipling said this:
IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
Monkey with a Typewriter discusses the Pike River 'event' and it's very interesting also.
I've not linked to him before.. but now I have!

There are already people trying to blame this on "the greenies" for not allowing the mine to be opencast or have a shorter tunnel.
The fact that these options were never seriously considered even by Pike River LTD doesn't seem to make any difference.
Nor does the fact that regardless of the method used, safety is the sole responsibility of the mine company.
There is a storm brewing and it looks like it could be huge.
I agree with that Shunda - the brewing of the storm has begun.
As for blaming the greenies, There's always a casting-about for a whipping boy/scape goat when there has been a concentration of emotion. I'll be listening to Key very closely. He's famous for his subtle slights and re-direction of focus onto those he seeks to dominate.
