Marty @ mars 2 earth has unearthed this disturbing news of the death of a wetland in the Catlins.

Kia ora Rob, apparently the ODT has before and after photos - you may be able to track them down. This destruction is so wrong. A pity more people don't have your attitude - with the great work you have done in wetland restoration.
Marty and Shunda - it sounds pretty sick doesn't it. I'll take your post to the ES staff and see what they know Marty. Good work in bringing it into the blogosphere. I'd like to know what the water is being used for now and whether consents were issued. The number of wetlands that have been sacrificed to farming, townships and roading in this country is astronomical.

Well that's a bit crap isn't it.
You will never convince some people that wetlands serve an important purpose.
