Energy and Resources Minister Gerry Brownlee took a rare few hours from overseeing Chch earthquake rebuilding to breathe life back into the Govt’s Petroleum Action Plan at the bi-ennial Petroleum Conference in Auckland. After a disappointing discovery season and a string of political setbacks, including the rejection of conservation land mining, Brownlee is making it clear that the Govt’s enthusiasm for pursuing high value, potentially “game-changing” resources remains a big part of its agenda. In particular, Brownlee is signalling a willingness to re-engage with the environmental movement on the merits of exploiting oil, gas and other mineral resources, and the potential to do so in an environmentally sustainable way.

Don't be fooled Robert, Gerry has been told by his doctor to "eat more greens" and he aint no vegetarian!
Nor is he a light eater Shunda.
I'm looking forward to Gerry's charm offensive on the environmentalists - it's bound to be as successful as Tolley's to the educationalists.
