Reading between the lines I think hes actually saying 'The development of energy resources in our region could provide a major economic boost' which would effectively be political suicide
Does 'at large' mean roaming, like a panther? Is it a referrence to his volume? Did he mean 'at last'? I'm reminded of 'Large Marge'. Stuart has similar eyes.
Rumour is Gerry Brownlee is not well regarded in central command at National Party hq at the moment.
Wasn't a good look when some Nats were quitting the party due to Brownlee wanting to have mining national parks, also not good look for Mr 'sexycoal when there was two nats - Auckland Mayor John Banks, and Auckland Central MP Nikki Kaye standing up to him.
He's not much liked in Labour's HQ either, nor at the Green's. ACT probably have his bust carved from anthracite on their 'Pelmet of Honour'.There's no room on the UnitedFuture pelmet, as Peter Dunne's likenesses, carved from some homogenous sensible material or other, crowd even themselves out.

According to his profile he is currently 'At Large' which could make things awkward as election time draws near

I think he means 'dig baby dig' and that didn't fly well for that other L.M. Gerry Brownlee, did it.
