This empty frame has puzzled Rivertonians ever since it was constructed, around the time the whitebait stand cattle yards helicopter pad ferry terminal white elephant viewing platform was built. Why was it built? What's planned to go in it? Is anything going to go in it?
Lately, there's been some movement in the vicinity of the big frame and it seems the Community Board has 'commissioned' a work from a local man, a sculptural piece that will be graceful, robust and, wait for it, non-controversial!
This will be interesting.
I'll bring up-dates as they come in.
For now, watch that space!

Ahh yes, treated Pine!! Is there anything it can't do?
CCA treatment - turning useless nature into chemically enhanced progress!!!
Good spotting Shunda!
There's plenty of dissatisfaction over that choice of material for a structure that sits amongst vertical posts made from hardwood, taken from the old railway line. Why do they do it?
The piles that support the White Elephant are also H5+ treated radiata, leaching their poisons into the estuary for as long as it takes to turn them to driftwood.
It's like the anti-fouling paints used on the bottom of boats to kill any life that might want to take up residence. Brilliant substance to introduce into the marine environment, given that it needs to be reapplied regularly - wonder why!
Its the first section of a wall that will shield the town from those hedonistic driftwood apparitions
Will their be brick Bio?
And concrete?
