Flat-fishermen on Jacob's River Estuary

Dragging for flounder is becoming increasingly popular as the run of very good winter weather continues.
These net-draggers were hauling in half a dozen fat flatfish with each pass. They claimed that the effluent from the dairy farms up river was fattening the fish and that the take had never been so good.
Overhead, a tui warbled.
At our feet, these creatures gasped for breath.

Flat fish eating cow pooze is a good thing?

Nah Shunda, the grizzled old bloke recognised me as an outspoken environmentalist and was yanking my chain, though I'm not so easily led.
He'd arrived at the water's edge in a shiney SUV and so would have been an easy target but I was feeling magnanamous, having just photographed the unusual nest in the previous post. Caused a stir, that nest. Kindofahornetsnest :-)

I am familiar with the shiny SUV species, you must approach them very carefully....

Carefully you say Shunda?
No pointed comments about the suitability of a heavy vehicle driving on cockle beds, that sort of thing?
