Just been talking with someone who was on a farm in Southland last week and saw about ten dead cows lying around the property. Some people should not be allowed to work with animals. Makes you mad when the good farmers show just how much difference good animal husbandry can make. As a country that relies on agriculture we need to walk the talk when it comes to animal welfare.

The pig story I've just watched is disgraceful and appalling at the same time. Some big players here are not fit to keep a stone in captivity.

An interesting statistic would be the number of calves that were killed in Southland in the past 10 years, with a hammer.
