I've seen skirts made from ties, there is some good material (pun intended) to work with there. Maybe you could whip up new skirts for the special women in your life, you wouldn't have to say goodbye to your collection then :-)
"Whip up new skirts" - I thought only wind did that :-) I am, truth to tell, not sad that my ties are going as in place of collecting those, I'm slowly amassing quirky lapel pins. Yesterday I found a turkey. I've been wearing a tiny gold frog lately and have a bunch of grapes, a leaf and a Green Man that I pin on on occasion. The great thing about such things is that they can be stored in a small container, in this case a old Barnet Contact Gaslight Lantern Plate box and draw no attention to themselves. That's not the case with 200 or so neckties. So they are going, provided I pull a "Peter Dunne" - willing seller/willing buyer.
