And yet gardens can be so political. For instance, why pull out a flowering puha that's pushing its way up between two of our front steps? Because it looks 'messy'? If not, why not? A garden is an idea (or a collection of ideas). A wilderness is not. I'm trying to get the idea of a wilderness.
....to eat it of course :) I remember roaming around the "country" near our house when small and thinking that was wilderness! The concrete pipes and piles of roading gravel were all part of it...
