These branches were of a very old apple tree on Lady Barkley road. I spent yesterday in pursuit of any old orchards that had not yet donated scion wood to our collection and had already collected from several around Drummond and Winton. I was especially excited to find, clinging to a sparsely branched and near-expired Golden Queen peach tree, a mummified pit. I'm preparing that for planting now and hope to grow a new queen. Here's one view of the lichened, neglected apple tree.
