If you are one of the rare and discerning followers of this blog, you'll recall that I was to report back on the question I was planning to put to the chair at the Council's Environmental management meeting. That was yesterday. I put my question,
"Is it the view of Council that fracking in Southland is too big for Council and must be managed by central government?"
Chairman Timms answered that she had been misquoted by the Southland Times reporter where they had written that she had said issues such as fracking and mining should come from central government, and quoted her saying, "They are too big for regional bodies."
Chairman of the EM committee, Nicol Horrell helped by saying that the Council had not formed a view about fracking or mining. Cr Riddell said (loosely) that it's about time we did. I agreed with her.
