It's well protected, Shunda. Unusually, the landowner has fenced the old thing off from stock. It's got a ton of character. I've got one last shot which I'll put up now in a new post, one I really like. It's expressive.
Anonymous - local legend has it...apparently, that's when the trunk was rent and now, no birds ever alight in its branches...

What a magnificent old tree. Oh what I would give to be able to look after a tree like that.
Is it some sort of Elm?
I hope it lasts for a while yet, it's the sort of thing I could sit and look at for hours and not get bored.
But I am a bit of a freak like that.
