because they didn't do anything wrong, regarding class sizes.
the issue is, then, if they didn't do anything wrong, why the back-down? What happened to having the courage to follow through on what you believe in?

It was, apparently, because we parents kicked up a fuss, where none was justified, and ruined their clever plan. Why should Key apologise for our self-inflicted foolishness?

As least they listened, labour put plenty through that greater nz did not really agree with and never backed down. Then they lost the election. Funny that

They saw the writing on the wall and only changed because they knew they were screwed and would lose so much more by prolonging the fight.

National didn't listen, period. The jumped when their polling showed they were heading for a thumping.
