Busted!

We've a secret smoker in our midst! One of our Spanish visitors has been disappearing down to the spring for a sly smoke, leaving her ciggy packet behind afterwards. Indonesian tailor-mades. Blurry photo because of the low-light down there at Smokin' Central.

  1. Those aren't just cigarettes, they are gudang garams; a type of kretek or clove cigarette. When I used to smoke they were my favourite.
Apart from the addiction and disease, the worst thing they have going for them is being mentioned in a particularly awful (and unfortunately popular) song by Jewel.
    they smell delicious.

  2. As a filthy fagger myself, I can empathise with the sneakiness/shame involved in his/her subterfuge.

  3. Exotica than I first thought!
Must look up the awful song, now that you've alerted me to it :-)

Suz - she, and I imagine she smoked apart from us for the sake of our sensibilities.

  4. Your sensibilities, health, plus her more than likely disgust and shame that she's addicted to a poisonous, over-priced Govt sanctioned poison.

Last weekend, my partner asked me what I would spend his winning (!?) lotto ticket on...'cos I'm a nice person, could only think of charity type-stuff :) but when pushed for something for me, I could only think of having a live-in hypnotist to help me quit...tragic I know.

  5. Sounds like you're half-way there, Suz.
My naturapathic friend,Dave Simpson does smoking cessation and it worked beautifully for my sister.

  6. I worked with a chap that was tying to quit smoking.......

Quite frankly his intolerable behaviour made me wonder if the Pentecostals are right about it being a demon!!

  7. Suz - I moved several hundred miles away from the only shop I knew that sold them (the excellent Wah Lee's on Hobson Street in Auckland). Since I don't like pure tobacco, and didn't seem to be addicted to nicotine, voila, smoking, quit, just like that. Strangely, I still find myself going through the actions, it seems I was more addicted to the ritual than the substance.
Robert - I partially retract my statement about Jewel; it may be time to search for mis-heard lyrics at kissthisguy.com
The bit I don't retract is how awful the song is. Ugh, and I had to listen to it to prove myself wrong.

  8. One more thing, I think smoking a gudang garam is something that everyone should do once in their life. If your guest has any left, I recommend you cadge one, and enjoy it.`
