Shell is joining the race to drill for oil in the dangerous waters around
Stewart Island.
Those seas are so rough the rigs have to be moved away during wild winter weather.
Shell New Zealand chairman Robert Jager told the Southland Times (17
August) that in the event of an oil spill off our coast, Shell has 'a
number of things we can call on'.
With the disastrous oil spill of the Gulf of Mexico still in the news (a
second, serious leak was discovered this week) many Southlanders will be wanting to know from Mr Jager what the details of his emergency plans are.
Mr Jager?
