One street lamp at a time. He has reduced his needs and possessions down to the bare minimum - billy, bedroll and horse and is picking his own path to the future. I suppose he'd be regarded as a Luddite in some circles though he reminded me of John Key, being a very relaxed character with no plans to speak of.
I have met this man when our battery died on a quiet stretch of road halfway to Queenstown. We gave him a beer and he told us about how he walks between jobs.
