I spotted this tiny article in a newspaper yesterday and found it interesting in a 'well, that's humankind for you' sort of way.
Berlin/Cairo
"The foundation's position on the return of Neferetiti remains unchanged," Prussian Cultural Foundation president Hermann Parzinger said. "She is and remains the ambassador of Egypt in Berlin." - Reuters
Oh it's a tangled web we weave.

Stolen cultural items should be returned IMO
Agreed, but given the Rosetta Stone is apparently THE most visited object in the British Museum, I wouldn't hold my breath.
Museum-think has a lot to answer for, "But we're the safest place for those artifacts. It's sometimes true too, but that's not automatically a good thing. Fixed in aspic isn't always where an artifact ought to be. Human remains is the really challenging area and there are still plenty of those in collections around the world. The best way to retrieve them seems to be private of low-key approaches, rather than official decrees. In the museum I worked in, there is a whare koiwi, into which I never ventured, where koiwi tangata are kept, with the blessing of the local iwi.
"Artefact"...just as retaliation for you correcting poor Inv in his hour of illness.
Thanx Suz :-)
Inv2 is ill?
I thought he was just a sour-puss!
(Shingles is no fun, I'm told)
Indeed, a bit of that famous Greeny compassion in order for your fellow man? I'm thinking mouth and money meeting somewhere?
I wished him speedy recovery Suz - no good having him moping around the blogosphere.
Not fair game for you Robert? I guess there's a moral stance somewhere there?
A right arse-hole visiting his place recently...not debating his points, just his person.
