The fat of the land

"Government accused (rightly so) of ignoring obesity"

Southland Times header, my italic addition.
Rebecca Todd of Christchurch, author of the report, is correct to trumpet this disgrace.
She lists a serious number of actions taken by the Government to undo work previously put in place to counter our obesity epidemic, each of which is a disgrace in itself, but of all of the actions that disturb me about the Government's attitude to the issue, is their response in schools, where they have provided, amidst plenty of media hype and photo ops for the Prime Minister,  balls and other sports equipment, as a measure to rein in the problem of an increasingly heavy school population.
When I compare that feeble response to the programmes such as axing the funding for Obesity Action Coalition, Healthy Eating Healthy Action, and healthy food in schools initiatives, I'm more than suspicious of their intentions and grasp of the problem.
