Rena hasn't gone away.

In fact, it's still leaking oil into the sea off Tauranga.

"The stricken Rena has suffered no further visible damage to its hull, but has leaked more oil in to the sea, Maritime New Zealand (MNZ) says."

    and she might just stay there for months, or years, slowly letting out enough oil to kill a bit of wildlife in the short term, and dropping off enough anti-fouling paint to destroy bits of the ecosystem around the Astrolabe reef.
