Bird on worm

(I filched this comment on last night's debate from Kiwiblog. To me, it's indicative)

Chuck Bird (1,872) Says:

Just a little off topic but I believe it is related. Is the use of political advertisements during the leader’s debate reasonable? We had a stacked panel, the worm, the biased leftie Campbell favouring Goff, the questions favouring Goff and party political advertisement by Labour. One of Goff’s favorite word is fair. There is no way this debate was fair.

(In case you missed it, John Key 'lost' the debate and the worm spurned him)

  1. People who don't trust the worm are a fickle lot;
when it is in key's favour they say it is 'the will of the people' and when it is in Goff's favour they say it is 'rigged and unfair'.
Well im sorry people, but the worm has spoken: key you have been exposed.

  2. Key can't wriggle out of it, you reckon, Bio?

  3. The 'worm' is entertainment - totally subjective, meaningless, but quite fun nonetheless.
It brings out ridiculous opinions from all sides.
Just remember, Rg, the 'worm' will turn - more than once more this week.

  4. They do turn, don't they Fred, the unpredictable little blighters. I'm betting on my favourite worm, Ambrose, to turn and bite.

  5. yes the worm will turn, in the same way that we are on the right road. The question, with regard to the worm is "which way will it turn?", just as the question with the road we are on is "are we going backwards, or forwards?". A lot of the statistics suggest we have been going backwards with Key in the driver's seat

Oh really? which ones, and how have you isolated those linked to global issues beyond our control or the fact the ground hasn't friggin stopped shaking in Christchurch for the past year.

I am no fan of Key, but hearing these left wing morons preach their utter bullshit kinda makes me want to defend the guy.

  7. "these Left-wing morons", Shunda?

I fear you have lost your way.

  8. The thing is Robert, you switch off all reason when it comes to politics - I don't.

  9. Ha!
    Example please!
    Let's wrestle this one out.

Statistic 1 - number of democratically elected local councils = a decrease of eight (or about 10% across the country since 2008. Effect of uncontrollable global issues is debatable but likely to be negligible. Occurred before September 2010, so not EQ-related.
Statistic 2 - Number of state agencies that can covertly monitor and search individuals = an increase of five to ten, with an associated increase in the range of methods they can use. Effect of global issues is likely to be negligible, as is the impact or earthquakes.
Statistic 3 - Number of laws passed restricting what clothes one may wear = 1. Happened before earthquakes, the influence of uncontrollable global issues is probably nil.

So defend away. I can't stand Key and won't pretend otherwise. I don't care for arguments along the lines of "National could have done worse" or "Labour wouldn't have done any better" - as I see it National could and should have done better. But they didn't, and it's not something I will forget, or shovel under the carpet.

  11. Gee Armchair, your response makes me wonder just what the hell you are trying to hide...."ooooo!! the governments after me!!"
You sure you're not just a paranoid narcissist?

    Let's wrestle this one out.

You do realise that those on the extreme right don't like National because they are too much like Labour? you realise that Phil Goff voted to sell a quarter of Air NZ in 2002? (or was it 03?)

You seem to think the left can do no wrong because, well, they're left!!
The reality is, none of the political parties are even close to the sustainable world you (and I) want and Labour is not much different to the current National party, yet your pom poms are on!!
    Why?????
Why can you feel so passionately about something that is just not evident??

  13. I'm struggling to see narcissm or paranoia in Armchairs comments?

And the blog host ain't no Labour fan ? Why the aggro Shunda?

  14. Something to hide is such a subjective phrase - did you have something specific in mind that a paranoid narcissist might be hiding? I'll not be declaring either way; I'm sure you understand the concept of "none of your business".
I'm curious about your lack of a direct response, either sticking to your intention to defend National, or resiling from your initial plan. It looks like ambivalence on your part, which is a form of faint praise.

  15. A change to the grammar; I meant to write "...neither sticking to...nor resiling from..."

  16. And the blog host ain't no Labour fan

That's the official position, sure, but pining for a Labour led govt kinda gives it away.

  17. Paranoid narcissist is the most substantial response you have? The only response? That's pathetic.
